With so much going on in the world, it’s no surprise that people in Ontario are looking for a place to truly disconnect from the noise and reconnect with what matters most to them.
So when Alexi came to us looking for a plan to design and build a cottage within his family’s budget we were thrilled to get started.
More than ever before, we’ve seen an interest in off grid cabins, cottages, and homes and we couldn’t be more excited to make the dream of a secluded, eco-friendly, off grid oasis a reality for our clients.
When our team sat down with Alexi, his vision for their vacation home was simple… they wanted a fully functional off grid cabin where they could relax, connect with nature, and make lasting memories with their family. With property located on the outskirts of Almaguin Highlands, hidden down a long winding driveway, they already had the perfect location for this project.
This 3-bedroom Viceroy cabin has everything you could ever need for comfortable off grid living including solar power, a fully functioning kitchen, full bathroom, upper loft, and floor-to-ceiling windows to highlight the beautiful forest view. This cabin is heated by a wood stove, central to the living area so it easily heats the upstairs open loft. We also can’t forget our favourite addition to this build which is the screened in Muskoka room which provides our clients with the perfect place to listen to the birds sing while enjoying their morning cup of coffee (mosquito free).
With any build, it’s so important to have expert guidance and advice along the way, but even more so when going off grid.
Unlike a standard custom build, there are additional aspects to consider including your main power source, which septic system you’ll use, and how you’ll heat your space — all of which have multiple options to choose from! Even though it can seem daunting, designing your off grid escape is a breeze when working with our team at Lischkoff Build Design.
